You never quite know who (or what) is going to show up at the winery. Last Saturday we had a visit from a classic Model A Ford - circa 1930 - in beautiful condition. We have a rather majestic Oak tree standing in front of our winery. It is tall, round, and old. In fact, there have been two "expert" estimates of its age and the consensus is 260 years old. That makes it older than our country, which just celebrated 250 years! At Third Block Wines, have nice aged wines, but not quite that old. One thing that people like about Third Block Wines - we use screw tops on our wine bottles, and have for years. Most customers prefer them over corks. Screwtops are easier to open, easy to re-seal, no corkscrew required, can be stored upright, better air tight seal, and easier to handle. However, it's the wine in the bottle that matters most! Here's a Wine Tip - Sometimes with red wine - not white - there is occasional sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Don't worry, it's natural. The way to avoid this in your glass is to pour out the last of the wine with the bottle at an angle (as shown in the photograph). It's not generally a good idea to pour out the bottle "bottoms up" to get every last drop. Come and talk about wine at Third Block Wines in Jefferson - open Fri & Sat from 1 to 6.

One of the things we hear from customers a lot is how much they enjoy our tasting room. They might not expect to find such a nice, clean, pleasant comfortable setting in an otherwise understated rural surrounding. Just a note to say that we're open on the 4th of July! - regular hours, 1:00 to 6:00, on both Friday and Saturday.
