Innocent Winery was founded in 1988 by Mark Vlossak who continues to be our winemaker and President. We produce small lots of handmade, vineyard-designated wine from some of the best sites in the Willamette Valley. Since our founding, we have grown from 600 cases that first year to our current production of 8-10,000 cases, yet each wine is still handcrafted in the very same manner. Innocent Winery has received recognition from throughout the country and around the world for its outstanding Pinot noir, beautifully crafted white wines, and fair pricing.

If you’ve ever tried Makenzie’s “Not So Innocent' Grauburgunder, you know this w**e is anything but ordinary.

This light ruby-hued w**e begins with Pinot Gris sourced from Momtazi Vineyard. The block was originally planted to Gewürztraminer, and even after grafting over to Pinot Gris, a small amount of Gewürztraminer continues to grow. We embrace it and include those grapes in the blend.

After sorting and pressing, the skins remain in contact with the juice for about 48 hours, creating a pale pink juice that gradually develops its beautiful ruby color during fermentation. The result is a distinctive, vibrant w**e with plenty of character.

Mark purchased this parcel just outside Jefferson, Oregon in 2018, and we planted it to Chardonnay and Pinot noir. This fall marks our fourth harvest from the site.

Happy October! Here are scenes from a few weeks ago, when Mark and the team went to Shea Vineyard to check on our blocks (Block 6 and the Terrace Block). This fruit was picked a week ago, and is well on its way through primary fermentation.

The first grapes of harvest arrived at the w**ery today, and the team is pretty excited about it! Pictured here are Mark and Makenzie sorting Pinot noir from the estate. This, along with Chardonnay picked this morning at Freedom Hill Vineyard, is currently in the press and will become the base w**e for the return of an old favorite: a sparkling Brut. Our last Brut vintage was in 2017, and Makenzie has decided to take up the reins and bring it back into our sparkling lineup. So far, the production team is very happy with the quality of the fruit. Also picked today: Pinot noir from Momtazi Vineyard, destined to become Oeil de Perdrix.
