2020, what's next?! Read up on the 100 year floods that China is having right now that are threatening the stability of the world's largest dam, the Three Gorges Dam.
The Yangtze is among the largest rivers in the world both by length and by volume, with only the Amazon River and Nile River producing greater volume of flow. The Yangtze and it's tributary system is also among the most flood-prone regions in the world, with historic floods that killed millions of Chinese. In 1931, a 4-month long flood disaster killed 3.7 Million people and displaced another 14 Million. Again in 1935, floods killed 137,000 people and destroyed entire cities, including Wuhan, China. Again in 1952, the Yangtze basin flooded along the Hubei province where Wuhan is located and killed another 33,000 from flooding plus another estimated 400,000 who later died of a plague (likely Swine Flu) that ravaged through after the floodwaters had receded.

20% of the world's supply of Corn, Maze and many fruits and vegetables are grown in the Yangtze flood basin. China is also the world's largest producer of Rice, Wheat, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Peanuts, Tea, Millet, Barley, Cotton, Corn and Soybeans...with the bulk of these food crops grown in the Yangtze flood basin. 30% of the world's supply of chicken and eggs, beef pork, etc. All located in the flood plain.

If a catastrophic dam failure should happen, well, it could result in another global catastrophe. Food Shortages on a massive scale.

The reservoir system that makes up the 3 Gorges Dam system passed flood stage some 6 weeks ago, and is now classified by China as a Level 2 (Level 1 being the worst and only reachable in the event the Dam's discharge system fails).

Since June 1, historic floods in China have affected more than 45 million people in 27 provinces; the economic toll is estimated at more than $16.5 billion.

In light of President Trump's declaration of a National Emergency, I think it's very important to recognize this public/private partnership. Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and Target, have all stepped up to the plate to support the citizens of the USA by allowing health depts and hospitals to set up drive up testing centers in their parking lots. Also to Quest, Rache, LabCorp for busting ass to get these tests manufactured and distributed. To Google who has over 1000 engineers working to set up a diagnostic website to help Americans decide whether or not they need a test. Also, the home health care industry that is going to be ramping up to help with testing of Americans in rural areas or can't leave their homes. To the executive action by the President ordering that the US Strategic Reserve of oil be purchased and filled to capacity to see us through these many months.

To understand why the new coronavirus is so dangerous, you have to make it clear what is exponential growth. The term is somewhat bulky, but the concept behind it is simple. It is about an increase that is constantly accelerating itself. And this pattern can also be seen in the corona virus.

A well-written article from Germany.

Noch gibt es in Deutschland recht wenige Infizierte, doch das kann sich schnell ändern. Warum es wichtig ist, die Ausbreitung des Virus zu bremsen.

Stubble could cause Trouble

Men may need to hack off their muttonchops, void their Van D***s or pluck their ducktails if they plan on using a respirator, according to information from the CDC about how facial hair can interact with the devices.

A graphic released by the CDC shows the fashionable facial-hair-wearer which styles will conflict with potentially life-saving respirators as the US braces for the quickly spreading coronavirus to emerge state-side.

Handlebar, walrus, and Zorro mustaches are fine, but the CDC says folks may need to lose their Fu Manchus, Dalis, and Englishes — because they could prevent respirators from making a seal on wearers’ faces.

And while a clean-shaven face is OK, stubble could cause trouble, the agency warned.

Standard beards and chops are also risky, as the hair could come in contact with a respirator’s exhalation valve, reducing their effectiveness, the graphic said.

Goatees are good to go — but only if a mask-wearer’s chin hair doesn’t cross the seal.
