Last month, several members of EAI's Aquatic Sciences team attended the Florida Association of Aquatic Biologists (FAB) 39th Annual Meeting at the beautiful Orlando Wetlands Education Center in Christmas, Florida.

Our team was proud to present research on ichthyoplankton migration patterns in Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River and pipefish abundance fluctuations in the Kissimmee River.

In addition, our very own Dr. Matt Scripter (the current FAB President!) presented his research on a new caddisfly larval morphotype that was discovered at the Orlando Wetlands outflow stream!

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the park and genuinely appreciate the opportunity to share our work and connect with fellow aquatic science professionals from across the state.

Back in August, EAI’s Aquatic Sciences team took to the water at Blue Heron Bridge to sharpen and strengthen their scientific diving skills. 🤿🫧

Not only do these training exercises help ensure our team is prepared to provide safe, effective underwater support for the projects our clients rely on… they’re actually a lot of fun, too! 🌊🐠

We’ve had a great 2026 sea turtle nesting season so far! It was another busy season and our team put in some long days helping to monitor over 50 miles of beach across our survey areas in Delray Beach, Martin County, St. Lucie County, Indian River County, and Volusia County! We also took on a few extra nest monitoring projects in Mississippi, Egmont Key, and North Carolina!💪🥵

Nesting has slowed down quite rapidly this season but our team will continue to monitor through October 31st (and maybe even longer!). As the season winds down and we start saying goodbye to some of our seasonal environmental monitors (😭), we want to give a shout out to everyone that helped out this year!

Last weekend, EAI participated in the International Coastal Cleanup.

Spearheaded by Ocean Conservancy, the International Coastal Cleanup is the most recognized cleanup event in the world. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people across the globe come together on the same day to remove trash and debris from beaches and waterways. 🚮🗑️

Keep Martin Beautiful organizes the event in our community and EAI is a regular sponsor. This year, in addition to sponsoring, we fielded a team to clean up the Jensen Beach Causeway. We collected over 1700 pieces of trash totaling 160 pounds! According to Ocean Conservancy’s Wildlife Impact Calculator, we saved 105 sea turtles and 26 seabirds! 🐢🦆Yay team!

We love to be a part of such an incredible event that aims to protect local wildlife and keep our beaches and waterways beautiful!
