1. Trust your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t pursue the business. You may not be able to put your finger on it, but when you’re getting scammy vibes it’s best to find something else. If it feels too good to be true, it probably is.

2. Research the company. Take some time to get to know the company. If you can’t find any information it may be an indicator that they’re a scam site.

3. Be wary of jobs that ask you to pay upfront. Businesses that ask you to pay money in order to work are a red flag. There are some jobs that may require you to purchase your own equipment or supplies, but be very careful with these types of business models as they may ultimately be a sham.

4. Be careful with your personal information. You may be asked for personal information like your name, address, or phone number, but you should not give out your social security information or bank account info on a job application.

5. Ask for references. If they refuse to supply you with references, there’s a good chance they aren’t legitimate.

6. Some jobs are just shady. Stuffing envelopes is notoriously a scam-internet job and it’s been around for quite some time. Other things to avoid are online re-shipping or product assembly.

7. Ensure that you’re working for the company you think you’re working for. Some scammers will act like they’re from well-known companies like Google, Amazon, or Apple, but are actually fraudulent. Verify the contact information or reach out to these companies directly.

8. Avoid wire transfers. If your potential employer tells you they have to transfer money to you this is a big red flag. There are plenty of safe ways to pay you money for your work. Do not give them your bank information or agree to a money transfer.

● Sense of pride and accomplishment. A side business can give them something to look forward to when the monotony of motherhood is overwhelming.

● Pursue a passion. A side job or business can also give SAHMs the opportunity to pursue a passion outside of mothering.

● Build a foundation for a larger business down the road. Some moms want to be SAHMs when their kids are little but have plans for running a larger business once their kids are school age or older.

● Keep sharp for a career. For SAHMs who want to pursue a career when the kids get older, they may want to keep working on the side so they can keep up with industry standards.

I am grateful that businesses are starting to come alive again after the recent pandemic shutdowns.

I am happy that people are starting to come together again.

After a year of focusing on personal growth, I am awake and aware of the pulse of business. I feel that I can start being successful on a whole new level.

The secret is in continuous goals that get you excited about your business and bring meaning to your life.

Try these strategies:

1. Think about what's important to you. Go beyond business: what work/life balance do you want to have?

● Consider: family, community life, service, spirituality, fitness
● How can you shape your business so that it supports your work/life balance desires?

2. What’s your objective? For your best results, the objective should be inspirational, ambitious, and qualitative. It should describe an outcome that you look forward to with excitement.

3. Think about your business plan. How can your business best support the lifestyle you want?

● Consider both your immediate and long-term goals.

4. Keep OKR (Objective Key Result) in mind. OKR is a goal-setting methodology to set ambitious goals (“objectives”) and uses measurable benchmarks (“key results”) to track progress towards each goal.

● What key results will you need to hit in order to achieve your inspirational objectives? Set 3-4 measurable results based on growth, performance, revenue, or engagement.

𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐬:
Check in with your goals in a timely manner.

1. Daily. What are 3-5 things you can do each day that bring you towards your goals? Make these your daily non-negotiables.

2. Weekly. How can you measure your progress weekly? Set aside time each week to reflect about progress towards your goals.

3. Quarterly. Ask yourself: what is the one thing you can focus on that will have the biggest impact? Make a plan to maintain this focus in all aspects of your planning.

Setting goals doesn’t have to feel like a chore! Let yourself dream. Imagine your best, most satisfying life.

Then, determine specific actions you can take that will lead you to these goals.

Every entrepreneur seems to have a secret to their success and most of them will tell you that a good morning routine is the key to unlocking endless opportunities.

1. 𝑾𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒖𝒑 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚. Research consistently proves that many successful people wake up well before the workday begins.

2. 𝑩𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅. At the end of each workday, put ten minutes aside to make a list of the things you need to do first the next day. This way, you can start your morning with a focus on what you need to get done and avoid anything that might put you on a path of procrastination.
