There are moments that remind you exactly why this work matters. This is one of them.

iRise Careers proudly celebrated the Ready to Rise Program Graduation at Johns Creek High School , and the impact was powerful.

This group of students showed up month after month during their flex period. Not because they had to, but because they chose to invest in themselves and their futures.

Over the course of the program, they built clarity, confidence, and direction. They explored who they are, what they want, and how to get there. At their capstone, each student stood up and shared their personal goals and a real plan to achieve them. Every single student grew and today proved those outcomes. That moment alone was everything.

To commemorate their commitment and growth, each student received a Ready to Rise certificate and pin. A symbol of the work they put in and the future they are stepping into.

This pilot cohort was especially meaningful. Every student identified as Hispanic, and many are first-generation immigrants. Their stories, their drive, and their willingness to lead the way for themselves and their families is something we will never take lightly.

And this is just the beginning.

We are actively working to expand Ready to Rise into cohort-based programs that serve students across the metro Atlanta area. Because every student deserves access to guidance, strategy, and belief in what is possible.

May 1 marked 1 year since launching iRise Careers.

What started as a vision has grown into real impact, real partnerships, and real transformation across students, professionals, executives, businesses, and schools.

Over this first year, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible clients at every stage of the journey, from students preparing for their first opportunity, to professionals navigating transitions, to executives stepping into leadership, and to organizations and schools building stronger talent pipelines, improving hiring strategies, and investing in people development.

To every client who trusted me with your goals, your challenges, and your future, thank you. I’ve watched people land new roles, build confidence after uncertainty, strengthen teams, improve hiring outcomes, and take bold steps toward what’s next. I’ve also partnered with businesses and schools committed to developing talent in meaningful, sustainable ways. That trust is something I don’t take lightly.

Food for thought about the Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show, from a first-gen Cuban American whose first language was Spanish and who has grown used to being the minority, sometimes the only one, in rooms full of white Americans.

How did you feel watching the halftime show?

How would you have felt if you were fully immersed in that performance?

How would you have felt if you walked into a party that mirrored the scenes he created?

Think about it.

Really think about it.

The words, thoughts, emotions, and reactions that come up may be a glimpse into what people like me feel in many professional, social, and academic spaces.

Here are a few real-life examples:
• I am a Hispanic woman walking into a predominantly white, male, conservative MBA classroom.
• I am a Hispanic woman walking into a predominantly white meeting room or boardroom where simply being "professional me" is "too much" for some or described as "passionate and dynamic" on a good day but "intimidating like a bulldog" on another.
• I am a Hispanic woman living in a predominantly white suburb of North Atlanta, where I recently bought my second home and am mistaken for the housekeeper, while my husband is mistaken for the landscaper.
• I am a Hispanic woman hosting the launch party for my business where I empower people and businesses to rise at iRise Careers at my country club and a guest mistakes me for a waitress and asks me for a diet coke.

Now, whether you like Bad Bunny or not.
Whether you agree with his politics or not.
Whether you agree with his views on sexuality or not.
Maybe, just maybe, watching that halftime show and sitting with your own reactions can help you see the world through a different lens.

People like me are proud U.S. citizens.
We were born here.
We are proud Americans.
We often speak English as a second language.
And we are deeply proud of our heritage, culture, and history.

This is not about sides.

It is about perspective.

And sometimes perspective starts with discomfort, curiosity, and the willingness to ask yourself why you felt what you felt.

“I was referred to you by…” is a phrase I hear often since launching iRise Careers, and I could not more grateful.

Every introduction, referral, and connection shared is rooted in trust. It reflects relationships built over time and a belief in doing what is right, even when no one is watching.

Now, when I’m “the only,” I have no doubt it’s because of my qualifications and because I’m needed. And that clarity is incredibly freeing.

What I’ve also learned is this: being a Hispanic woman founder and CEO is not something I have to explain away or minimize. It’s a strength. It shapes how I listen, how I coach, how I advocate, and how I show up for my clients. I’m deeply thankful for the clients, partners, and colleagues who see that, value that, and trust me because of it, not in spite of it.

At iRise Careers, I will continue to serve everyone. Every background. Every industry. Every stage of career and business. That has always been, and will always be, part of my mission.

And still, I have to say this out loud. There is something incredibly special about being able to serve mi gente in a way that feels personal, cultural, and deeply meaningful. To help people who see themselves in my story. To open doors that once felt closed. To translate opportunity into possibility.

Thank God. Thank the long roads that led me here. Thank the lessons, the hard seasons, the rooms where I questioned myself, and the ones where I learned to stand taller.

The future is bright, even when the present feels heavy. I choose to keep building, serving, and believing. For my community. For my clients. For what’s ahead.
