SUCCESS STORY: Campus customer (multiple buildings on contiguous property) uses UtilityTRX Rate Engine to find optimal pricing on 5 buildings, which will save over $600k annually. UtilityTRX Rate Engine does the heavy lifting in determining whether the account qualifies and then performs time-based use modeling to calculate charges, as compared to benchmark rates. "These rates involved demand-based tiered use pricing by season, along with time-based pricing using ratchet demands determined over a 12 month span. It certainly wasn't your Mickey Mouse Excel calculations that may be prevalent for smaller accounts," states Alex Tomas, Managing Director of UtilityTRX. Since making the change, the energy manager has used UtilityTRX to track the results on a monthly basis for management reporting. What seems like it might be obvious ... often lies buried in plain site. This customer's water and sewer account was flagged within the UtilityTRX process as a suspect use account. A meter issue was corrected and monthly charges were reduced from $10k - $13k to around $5k, which is rather significant. This example is one of many that was uncovered for this customer, along with numerous other like-examples uncovered over the years for our other customers.
