Brownie and Batter just keep splashing in their first big kid pond. 🦆
These two came to us injured — beaten up by another flock's bigger birds, feathers still growing back in — and we've kept them isolated to heal up for about a month now. They started with a tiny pool. Then a second pool because they loved it so much. And now? Graduated to the big tub with the rest of the crew watching.
Watching them go from scared and hurt to splashing around like nothing ever happened is exactly why we do this. Healing takes time, but it happens.
Welcome to the big leagues, you two. 💙

Late-night sourdough prep and a quick tech mishap! 🥖✨
​After my phone decided to die right in the middle of trying to film my stretch-and-folds earlier (we have an ongoing Android vs. iPhone debate in our house! 😂), we’re back at it!
​I’m working with a big batch of high-hydration dough tonight. It’s warm in the house, which keeps the dough extra active, but it’s looking so good.
​Here is tomorrow’s baking plan for this batch:
​Option A: 3 French baguettes or 6 hoagie rolls.
​Option B: 2 classic round sourdough loaves in Dutch ovens.
​Bonus: 6 mini sourdough bread bowls for chili night to celebrate the first Football Saturday of the season! 🏈🥣
​There is nothing quite like a high-hydration dough for getting that amazingly soft crumb. I'm finishing up this last set of stretch-and-folds, letting it do its final proof (I might secretly turn on the fireplace to speed things up a little 🤫), and then setting it up for tomorrow's bake!
