Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation Resource Recovery is a quasi-public agency dedicated to helping Rhode Islanders reduce, reuse, recycle, compost, and properly dispose of waste.

Resource Recovery is a quasi-public agency created by the Rhode Island General Assembly in 1974. Our mission is to provide safe, environmentally compliant, clean, and cost effective solid waste and recycling services for all Rhode Islanders. We operate the state’s Central Landfill, Materials Recycling Facility, Leaf & Yard Compost, Eco-Depot for Household Hazardous Waste, and Small Vehicle Area fo

r special recycling drop-off programs. In addition to these services, we provide free technical assistance and educational programs to RI municipalities, schools, community groups, businesses, and institutions, and we sell backyard compost bins and finished compost.

Also, Soft cover books can also go right into the recycling bin as is. Hard cover books can be recycled too, but remove the cover first, place the pages in your recycling bin or cart, and place the cover in the trash. ♻📚📖

Empty aerosol disinfectant spray cans can be recycled in your bin or cart, as long as they are COMPLETELY empty. That means when you hold down the nozzle, nothing should come out—no product, no noise. Only then can these metal cans be safely recycled. It’s OK to leave the nozzle on. ♻
