Our Story

Granular combines the experience and insight of farmers, the broad and deep knowledge of agronomists, data scientists and industry partners, and the rebellious, innovative business and technical acumen of the entrepreneurs and engineers that define Silicon Valley. Farmers are not only our customers but our co-creators—collaborators in bringing new technologies to the farm so they can operate more profitably and sustainably and with increased transparency.

Founded in February 2014, and backed by leading venture capital investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and Google Ventures, we designed the leading farm management solution, now called Granular Business, by collaborating with many of the largest, most progressive family farms in the country.

Having an agronomy history dating back to 1992, MapShots was acquired by DuPont Pioneer and continued to enrich the agronomy software space. In 2017, Granular joined forces with DuPont Pioneer, coupling the strength of Granular’s business software with DuPont’s robust agronomy expertise, the AgStudio platform, and the Encirca agronomy software and advisory services. In February 2018, DowDuPont™ announced a spin-off of the Agriculture Division, naming the new agriculture company, Corteva Agriscience™ (kohr-‘teh-vah), which is derived from a combination of words meaning “heart” and “nature.” Granular is an independent subsidiary of Corteva and is responsible for all software and analytics products.

Today, the Granular platform includes a suite of farm management software (Granular Business, Granular Agronomy, and Granular Insights), the leading farmland real estate analysis tool (AcreValue), and precision agronomy software for ag retailers (AgStudio).
