Have you ever asked yourself, what is recovery?? Recovery is the main goal for individuals who have experienced a traumatic event and want to move forward in the healing process. In general, recovery is the ability to live in the present without being overwhelmed by the thoughts and feelings of the traumatic event(s).
It is essential to provide self-care throughout the healing process. Don't isolate yourself, reach out to family or friends for extra support. The stress of the event(s) can be crippling; feelings of sadness, fear, grief, and depression can be overwhelming. If these feelings are interfering with your daily life, find a professional that can help you through this process. Find a support group, and join it. It is always helpful to talk with others that have the same experience. Exercise is beneficial to help you through this difficult time, try deep breathing, gentle stretching, and walking.
Listen to your body...I can't say this enough. Your body (and mind) knows what it needs to heal. Finds things to do that makes you happy, that makes you feel good, that makes you laugh until you almost p*e! Learn to enjoy rest and relaxation...take a bubble bath, find a good read, journal about your blessings of the day...it's the little things that matter most.
Learn to LOVE yourself again. learn to except the hurt, the pain, and the anger. It's okay to know that you're going to have bad days...as long as you have the tools to keep thriving and pushing forward to have better days...easier days; with less pain, less hurt, less anger. Give yourself time...to heal.
Sending hugs to heal...and love to share..
