Accel, Inc. is a leading U.S. packaging, assembly and manufacturing company involved in the healthcare, CPG and food industries. We are looking for a 1st Shift Warehouse Operations Manager - Shipping to be based in New Albany, Ohio (Columbus) at our headquarters & operating facility.
Job Description: Responsible for outbound shipments and related inventory movements on 1st shift including coordinating and managing performance of the team which includes dock administrators (that schedule and coordinate transportation), forklift and pallet jacks drivers that retrieve and load trailers. The role includes operating as a forklift driver as demand requires during the shift. Maintaining a clean and orderly area is essential to the role.
Essential Job Functions:
• Set shift priorities for dock operations.
• Manage appointment schedule and manage exceptions for late / missed arrivals.
• Ensure proper protocols are being followed including safety measures, product audits/inspections and checking in /checking out of carriers’ drivers.
• Advocate and develop a cohesive, collaborative operating culture.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders on initiatives, priorities and operational procedures including CEMs, quality, inventory and production/operations.
• Engage with client and 3rd party stakeholders in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
• Ensure compliance with clients’ transportation and inventory management operating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the warehouse operations team on 1st shift.
• Manage and address proactively any customer issues associated with warehouse operations.
• Ensure a productive, safe operating environment that includes a clean facility that operate efficiently.
• Communicate with client transportation teams in a timely, professional and accurate manner.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
• OSHA certified to drive turrets, clamp trucks and forklifts (preferred)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• 3-5+ years of experience in warehouse operations with an emphasis on transportation management, preferably at a large volume, high capacity production facility.
• Management experience leading teams.
SKILL/ABILITIES:
• Excellent computer and data entry skills;
• Attention to detail and accuracy;
• Well organized;
• Must be self-motivated and have effective problem-solving skills;
• Ability to communicate information in verbal, written or visual form to a variety of audiences, from project team to executive management;
• Experience communicating directly with external clients;
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
TRAVEL:
• None to minimal annually.
COMPENSATION:
• $25-30 / hour
