So this is it. I'm about 99% moved out. I have a couple odds and ends to move Monday and then my desk. It's so surreal. I am excited for my next adventure, retirement and what that means to me. I appreciate all the support I have received from my family, my friends, clients and colleagues for the 37 years I have been a part of API. It's hard to say goodbye, so I won't. I will probably continue to see some of you either personally or on social media.

This picture will be the last item removed and that will happen at a time that will not be disclosed to me. Ray put his heart and soul in this company and he should go out the door one last time and I know it will be with a smile on his face.

So, this is not goodbye. This is thank you. Stay well my friends!

Who would have thought in 1984 a 22 year old legal secretary with an 8 month old baby would begin her journey of working for, managing, partnering then owning a private investigation/process serving company. Well I did, and I couldn’t be happier with what I have accomplished and how I’ve grown in 37 years.

But just as the saying goes all good things must come to an end. With that being said, after much soul searching, I’ve made the difficult decision to hang up my Fedora and retire. After 49 years, A Private Investigator, Inc. (API) will close at the end of this year. Going forward we will no longer take new investigations, however we will continue to accept papers for service through November 1, 2021. Those papers will be served and billed and I would appreciate payment of all invoices upon receipt but no later than December 27, 2021.

I have enjoyed my journey and I have met so many interesting people. There have been a lot of great memories and great friends that I have made over the last 37 years. Thanks for going on this journey with me. Be well.

With appreciation and gratitude,

Tammy Matesevac Runchey, President
A Private Investigator, Inc.

Good afternoon everyone. Covid-19 is sure changing the way we do a lot of things. For example, in IL there is a moratorium on evictions until 9/22/20. Now the Federal government has increased that to 12/31/20. IL Supreme Court has now put out a ruling mandating all lower courts change from specific court dated summons to 30 day summons. Currently there is very limited actions happening in person at counties with surges of Covid (zoom mostly). However some defendants are showing up at the court house anyway. Defendants may have to file an appearance and then be notified of a status date. This is an evolving situation as is everything else right now.
