G&D’s Paul Johnson (our Director of Technology and R&D) wrote this month’s feature story for the Standards Issue of Chiller & Cooling Best Practices Magazine — page 32: “Refrigerant Regulations Reshape Chiller Thermal Performance Engineering.”

Here’s the number that matters: as of January 1, 2026, new industrial process chillers must run on refrigerants with a GWP of 700 or lower. That rule is already in effect, and it rules out the refrigerants most commercial glycol chillers have used for 30 years.

Paul breaks down what that actually means for engineers specifying equipment right now — and how we got our Elite 290 (R-290 propane) platform down to a 16-to-1 refrigerant charge reduction without giving up an ounce of performance. 🔧
