Know a student with a genuine passion for dairy? The Alan Koepke Memorial Scholarship application is open now through Dec. 1.

At least one $2,000 scholarship goes to a high school student and at least one to a college student pursuing undergraduate education at an eligible Wisconsin school, including the UW Farm and Industry Short Course and Wisconsin technical colleges and universities. Wisconsin residency isn't required.

The scholarship honors Alan Koepke, a founding member of PDP who spent his life mentoring young farmers. Recipients will be recognized at the 2027 PDP Business Conference, March 16-17 in Wisconsin Dells.

Applications include an essay and two letters of recommendation, so starting early helps!

We trust that our cows are handled with care after they leave the farm. Few of us have seen that path firsthand.

At the 2026 Dairy Wellbeing Workshop, we will.

The day begins with a tour of American Foods Group, where we'll follow what happens after cows leave the farm and learn how the care and decisions we make before they ship make a difference.

The afternoon centers on the cow herself: down cow protocols with Dr. Simon Peek of UW School of Veterinary Medicine, and recognizing and managing pain with nationally recognized animal welfare specialist Dr. Jennifer Walker of Kinder Ground.

This program builds the skills to read, understand and use our own numbers to make decisions, starting at the level that fits. Many ag lenders also offer scholarships through PDP's "Count on Us" program, so it's worth asking yours.
