It’s pretty clear at this point our estate vineyard suffered both winter damage (-13°) and spring frost damage. Out of our 9 varieties, all were affected, averaging about 20-30% of a full crop across the board. We will still have harvest this fall, but it’ll be small and relatively quick.

That said, 2 of our last 3 vintages have been pretty large. We’re sitting on a comfortable supply of wine inventory and shouldn’t sell out of anything this year, even with a short crop. Now if it happens two years in a row, that might be a different story!

NEW VINTAGE ALERT 🚨 🍷 ‼️

LAKE EFFECT 2024 is officially available at the winery tasting room. We’re also bringing it to the Texas Corners and Kalamazoo farmers’ markets this summer!

This white wine blend is designed to please everyone. It’s not too sweet and not too dry. Its crisp citrus profile is balanced by just a touch of sweetness. Great on its own, and also with most summer food fare like chicken, fish, salads, and seafood. We recommend this wine as a great gateway wine if you’re new, or a crowd pleaser if you’re having friendly summer gathering. Cheers! ☀️

Andrew - our owner - and Shaun - our head wine and cider maker - have spent part of this week judging cider at the Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition. It’s the world’s largest cider competition and is conveniently located in Grand Rapids. We’ve been judging and entering ciders for several years and it’s helped us refine our palates and passion for cider.

This year we only entered one cider, that is yet to be announced or released. (Stay tuned on that!) In the past few years, we’ve won medals for many of our ciders including:

If you are curious about cider, join Andrew next week at the tasting room on Thursday, May 21 for a single varietal cider tasting from 5-7 pm.
