Adams Risk Management Group proudly employs both active and retired law enforcement professionals, and we are honored to stand with those who continue to serve our communities.

Coming from a multi generational public safety family here in Kalamazoo County, I understand the sacrifice, discipline, and quiet burden carried by those who serve.

This week, in support of National Police Week, we will be joining local law enforcement and public safety partners in support of the work they do.

We are proud to stand alongside the many agencies in Kalamazoo, including Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, its Command Staff, its Victim Services Division, and other personnel as we recognize the sacrifice, dedication, and service of law enforcement.

To every officer, deputy, retiree,, victim advocate, and public safety professional who continues to serve, thank you.

We as a firm who are led by and employ active and retired public safety personnel, we recognize all the law enforcement professionals and what they do for our communities. Thank you

National Police Week 2026 is May 10–16, with Peace Officers Memorial Day observed on May 15. During this week, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office proudly recognizes and thanks our Deputies, along with all law enforcement officers, for their commitment to the communities they serve.

Law enforcement is a difficult and demanding profession. These are the women and men who choose to show up for people they often don't know, during some of the worst moments of their lives. They respond to serious crashes, violent attacks, thefts, threats, missing loved ones, mental health crises, natural disasters, and calls for help both large and small. They stand as a deterrent to those who may wish to harm others, serve as mentors in our schools, provide safety at community events, and remain present with compassion when families experience unimaginable loss.

This work comes with sacrifice. Officers are scrutinized, criticized, and held to the highest standard, yet they continue to answer the call day after day. They work through storms, holidays, birthdays, and family events, knowing the risks to their health, their families, and their own safety. To our Deputies and all law enforcement officers: thank you for your courage, service, and sacrifice. Thank you for your “Here am I. Send me” commitment.

Use of force in the real world.

Private sector personnel are expected to act without immediate law enforcement. That is why training must cover control, decision making, force options, and articulation before an incident happens.

Adams Risk Management Group trains defensive tactics because personnel must know how to control space before physical contact starts. Positioning, distance, balance, movement, and reactionary gap management reduce the chance of being grabbed, surrounded, or forced into unnecessary force.

We train OC aerosol restraint because not every situation can be controlled hands on. OC gives personnel a lawful intermediate option to create distance, stop non compliance, and regain control when verbal commands and physical positioning fail.

We train ASP collapsible baton because personnel need a structured option when resistance becomes active or assaultive and lower levels are no longer effective. Baton training teaches authorized use, target areas, control, retention, and when not to use it.

We train the use of force continuum because force must match behavior. Personnel must understand when presence is enough, when verbal commands are enough, when control techniques are justified, and when intermediate force becomes necessary. The purpose is not to escalate force. The purpose is to apply the correct level at the correct time.

We train threat recognition because hesitation gets people hurt and overreaction creates liability. Personnel must identify pre assault indicators, encroachment, refusal to comply, aggressive movement, subject positioning, multiple subject threats, and possible weapon access.

We train explanation integration because every action must be defensible after the incident. Personnel are trained to explain what they observed, what it was perceived as, and why they acted. That is what supports report writing, incident review, client protection, and legal defense.

We train this way because our units operate in real environments: working alone, crowded locations, multiple subjects, delayed law enforcement response, and rapidly changing conditions.

Many ARMG personnel already come in with this training. Others are brought up to standard, and refreshers are used as needed to maintain performance.

Security companies should implement this because minimum training is not enough. Poor training creates hesitation, bad decisions, excessive force, weak reports, increased liability, and higher risk for clients.

ARMG stands out because our training connects field performance, use of force decision making, articulation, documentation, and public safety into one standard.

This training increases officer confidence, reduces liability for clients and guard companies, and supports overall public safety.

Those who prepare, control, and articulate their actions correctly win.

Adams Risk Management Group has published two white papers addressing areas where investigative work increasingly intersects with complex medical and legal systems.

The first paper focuses on medical related investigations and provides a practical overview of how healthcare systems, medical documentation, insurance billing structures, and administrative healthcare processes operate behind the scenes. It explains how these systems intersect with investigative work involving medical records, insurance claims, treatment documentation, and identity misuse issues. The paper also provides general insight into how healthcare facilities are structured, where different types of records and administrative controls exist, and how investigators and members of the public can better understand and navigate these environments.

The second white paper addresses workers compensation investigations in Michigan and outlines key legal and procedural considerations relevant to licensed private investigators operating under the Michigan Workers Disability Compensation Act. It provides context on how investigators lawfully access information through insurers, the legal framework governing investigative activity within workers compensation matters, and the obligations investigators must understand when handling cases involving medical documentation and insurance claims. It provides legal information and understanding that very few people really know

Together, these publications are intended to provide investigators and the public with a clearer understanding of how these systems function and how complex medical and workers compensation related matters can be approached in a structured, informed, and defensible manner.
