🚨Check fraud alert!

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office and other local agencies are taking multiple reports of checks being fraudulently altered and cashed.

We will not provide details on the methods used to alter checks for obvious reasons.

To minimize risk, consider hand-delivering checks to the post office instead of using unsecured mailboxes.

Furthermore, assess the security of the recipient's mailbox, as unsecured mailboxes pose a higher risk of theft.

Given the availability of secure alternatives for fund transfers to family and friends, please consider utilizing those options.

For bill payments, online bill pay through your bank is a recommended alternative to mailing checks.
