Long time no post - Wide Open Audio is still around. Haven't had much to post about here, but it's still a real thing and I still do audio things... Will post more often...

I was given a great gift for the summer and was off work at Canvas Church for the summer. I’m back at work at Canvas and looking forward to more Wide Ooen Audio projects as well. Some acoustic treatment, some loudspeaker installation and some mixing. Back in the saddle again…

What a great summer! Small projects in Condon, Kalispell, Whitefish and beyond have kept me busy while I enjoyed a sabbatical from my "day job". :)

I don’t use a sound level meter for YOU, I use it for me. Mixing, ten events in a row in three days, temporary threshold shift is a real thing. Use the SPL meter to help you stay consistent.

Some super sleuthing today - “All floor box inputs make a buzz in the sound system. We’ve switched to an external snake and cables and no buzz.”
Explore around, since I wired the floorbox inputs - did I swap pin 1 and 2? did I forget pin 1? Turns out ALL mic cables are MonoPrice mic cables and the Shell and Pin 1 are tied together at both ends. Snip and QUIET! Pin 1 needs to be tied to the shield and ONLY Pin 1. Not sure why these cables all have the shell tied to pin 1. But it’s quiet now.
