We had an amazing conversation with about Holistic Management and Regenerative Agriculture in Utah and what we do at 3 Springs Land and Livestock]. They have a great program you can tune into at 90.9 FM on the Wasatch Front.

Terrestrial life on earth is entirely dependent on photosynthesis, the more photosynthesis that occurs creates more habitat for soil life. To improve the water holding capacity(water cycle), biodiversity, mineral cycle, energy flow, temperature regulation, carbon sequestration is entirely dependent on effective photosynthesis occurring on multiple levels.

Threats to this are abundant, conventional tillage and leaving ground bare for long periods of time are devastating to environments. Try to keep what ever ground you influence covered with plant litter or a living plant!

This amazing graphic was done by much thanks!

This is a bacterial feeding nematode. This fellow will eat 10,000 different bacteria a day and the waste it excretes is available nitrogen for plants! This functional group of organisms is essential to the proper functioning of soil.

Unfortunately, many of our mechanical methods of farming, especially tillage, wipeout populations of this important grazer in the soil food web community.

Many people often associate nematodes to disease causing nematodes. There is a nematode that does eat roots and if you have thousands of them in your soil your plants will suffer. If that is occurring there is a pretty serious imbalance in the soils ecology. There are predatory nematodes that are at least double the size of this guy that would help keep root feeding nematodes in check.
