Here’s your Friday challenge:

Pick one small thing you’ve been walking past, thinking about, or saying, “I’ll get to that later.”

Fix it.
Clean it.
Call them.
Put it away.
Finish it.

It doesn’t have to be a huge project.

Sometimes knocking out one little unfinished thing feels better than starting five new ones.

Then go enjoy your weekend knowing there’s one less thing waiting for Monday. 😄

Remember heading somewhere new with a folded road map—or directions somebody wrote down for you on a piece of paper?

“Turn left at the gas station.”

“Go about three miles.”

“If you reach the bridge, you went too far.” 😄

No GPS.
No live traffic updates.
No phone telling you to make a U-turn.

You planned ahead, paid attention, and sometimes stopped to ask someone for directions.

Technology has made finding our way much easier today.

But there’s still something valuable about that old-school mindset:

Know where you’re going before you start moving.

That applies to a road trip, a project, a business—and life.

Good preparation never becomes outdated.

Keys have a way of multiplying over the years.

Former employees. Contractors. House sitters. Previous tenants. Vendors. Family members.

If you haven’t reviewed who can physically access your home or business in a while, October is a good time to do it.

Take a few minutes to ask:

• Who currently has a key?
• Are there old keys that were never returned?
• Have employee or tenant changes occurred?
• Are keypad codes still being used by people who no longer need access?
• Should any locks, codes, or credentials be updated?

Security isn’t always about adding something new.

Sometimes it’s simply making sure yesterday’s access doesn’t become tomorrow’s problem.

A new month and a new quarter are here.

Before October fills up with work, projects, responsibilities, school activities, and everything else life brings, maybe this weekend is a good opportunity to slow things down just a little.

Take the drive.

Have the coffee.

Spend time outside.

Call someone you haven’t talked to in a while.

Enjoy dinner without rushing to the next thing.

The calendar will always give us something else to do.

The people and moments that matter deserve a place on it too.

Long before smartphone weather apps, push notifications, and instant alerts, many families kept a radio nearby to find out what was coming.

You listened for the forecast.

You waited for an announcement.

And sometimes you found out about changing conditions by looking outside before anyone told you anything.

Today, information reaches us almost instantly—but there’s still something nostalgic about the sound of an old radio playing in the kitchen, garage, or shop.

As leaves begin to fall and landscaping changes with the season, take a few minutes to look at the areas around your doors, windows, gates, and walkways.

Bushes, branches, decorations, stacked firewood, or other seasonal items can sometimes create hidden areas around entry points without us realizing it.

A good fall check should include:

• Clear views around exterior doors and windows
• Trimmed bushes near walkways and gates
• No stacked items blocking camera views
• Clear access to locks, keypads, and entrances
• Good visibility around detached garages or sheds

Security works best when important areas are easy to see and easy to monitor.

But we don’t have to wait until January to reset a goal, improve a habit, strengthen a relationship, or make a change we’ve been putting off.

The final three months of the year still hold a lot of opportunity.

Start October with one simple question:

What small discipline could make the biggest difference if I stayed consistent with it through the end of the year?
