It's been a busy couple weeks so we're a little behind with our updates. During Memorial Weekend we finished placing all 30 wood endposts for Block 4. Here is a view looking toward the first four vineyard blocks.

While working in the vineyard we checked up on our recently planted block 4. Aravelle was just publicly released in 2023 and originated in New York State. We are one of the first wineries that will be offering this wine outside of the Finger Lakes region! This variety appears to be liking its new home in Missouri!

Despite Murphy's law being in full effect working with tractor implements this weekend, we managed to get several tasks done. Besides air blast spraying our first two blocks and starting to remove excess shoots on our Valvin Muscat block, we got 15 of our 30 deep holes augered today. Wherever there's a large 15" 3-foot hole, a back-breaking 120 lb. wood endpost is sure to follow!

Over the last week we've been hard at work planting block 4. We started our routine of using a dingo auger to dig each plant, apply 3 gallons of water and mulch. Unfortunately our dingo decided to break down after digging about 200 holes. So we had to rent a dingo and finish all the remaining holes in a marathon augering session: approximately 500 holes in 8.5 hours! As of yesterday, we planted 511 vines out of 711. Whew!

Last week we were able to finally get all 711 T-posts in the ground just in time to commence our block 4 planting! We'd like to thank John Blankenship and Todd Pfeifer for keeping us on schedule! We'd also like to call out John Ingle for creating a jig (being held in the photo) that allowed us to quickly determine the height to pound the T-posts while keeping them straight with the attached bubble level.

The last couple of days have been busy ones at the vineyard. First, we'd like to thank John Blankenship and Randy Schwarz for helping us get four more rows of T-posts in the ground! Today we finished putting all 707 grow tubes on block 3, which were planted last year.
