Last week, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new Jackson County Detention Center—a major milestone for our community and all those involved.

LINK was honored to serve on the Owner’s Representative, JCDC Partners team for this project, helping bring a modern, secure, and forward-thinking facility to life. Designed with a focus on “Justice with Dignity”, the new detention center prioritizes improved conditions for both staff and detainees, while supporting programming, treatment, and better outcomes.

We appreciated hearing remarks from County Executive , Vance McMillan with , Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson, and other community leaders who helped highlight the significance of this project.

Congratulations to , and all project partners on this achievement. We’re grateful to have worked alongside , , and many others who played a role in delivering this facility that will serve the community for years to come.

As we look ahead to Spring 2026, we’re excited for the official launch of the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension. This project will help bring the Berkley Riverfront area to life and will mark another exciting milestone for Kansas City‘s growing transit system.

Winter is in full swing, and so are the unique challenges it brings to infrastructure! ❄️

In Kansas City and beyond, freezing temperatures, snow, and ice can take a toll on roads, bridges, and stormwater systems. But did you know that the way we manage ice and snow can also impact green infrastructure?

At LINK, we’re working with municipalities and partners like Burns & McDonnell to educate communities on environmentally friendly de-icing practices that support green infrastructure. Many traditional de-icing salts can harm the plants that make green infrastructure effective in absorbing, treating, and managing stormwater.

Here’s how we’re addressing these challenges:
- Promoting eco-friendly de-icing solutions that minimize damage to vegetation while keeping roads safe.
- Supporting education efforts to help municipalities and communities understand the importance of protecting green spaces during winter.
- Ensuring sustainability by advocating for practices that preserve the health of plants vital to green infrastructure systems.

Keeping our infrastructure strong during winter means balancing safety with sustainability. By adopting smarter de-icing methods, we can protect the green spaces that make our cities healthier and more resilient.
