Looking forward to speaking at the monthly breakfast session on May 21! I'll be discussing how we can prepare to welcome the world, and navigate cultural differences as the World Cup takes place in Kansas City this summer. ⚽️

We have 4 nations 🇳🇱🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇩🇿🇦🇷 utilizing the Kansas City region for their basecamp and I can't wait to leave our Heart of America 🫶🏼 impression on our global guests!

Drop me a comment if I'll see you on the 21st! What do you most want to talk about?

Today I had the opportunity to attend the ICAN Women’s Leadership Conference in Omaha and I left feeling energized, challenged, and deeply grateful.

The conversations, insights, & energy in the room were a powerful reminder of what leadership development can look like when people gather with intention & heart!

This year’s theme was around optimism intelligence and it felt especially timely for me. A reminder that optimism is a conscious leadership choice in the face of uncertainty. In a world that often feels heavy, choosing hope, adaptability, and possibility is powerful leadership work.

A sincere thank you to the organizers, to Aileen Warren, the speakers, and everyone who made today such a meaningful experience. Thank you to Laura Roccaforte for inviting me. Grateful to have spent the day learning alongside so many thoughtful, inspiring leaders and leaving with new ideas to carry forward.

Hope to see you all again next year!

Someone asked me a great question today:

When leaders want to build psychological safety, what are the blind spots that actually make people feel unsafe?

Honestly, the question made me pause.

Because psychological safety does not just erode over time. Sometimes it was never intentionally built to begin with.

Here are the human behaviors that came to mind:

Condescension
Passive-aggressive communication
Overused sarcasm
Defensiveness when challenged
Yelling or raised tones
Mocking or dismissing others

None of these, on their own, make someone a bad leader.

We are human. We all have moments where we miss. And we need to give others and ourselves grace and space for that humanness.

But culture is shaped by patterns, not isolated moments. And just as importantly, it is shaped by what happens after those moments.

Do we have the self-awareness to recognize it?
The humility to own it?
The willingness to repair and adjust?

I am curious, what would you add to this list?

This summer, Kansas City welcomes Tunisia! 🇹🇳

There’s something really special about hearing people experience your home for the first time. 🥰

I had the chance to connect with two students from Tunisia & Bilel who are currently living & studying here in Kansas City at . will be hosting Team Tunisia this summer for the World Cup! ⚽️

I asked them:
What stood out about Midwest hospitality when you arrived?
What do you hope Kansas City gets to learn about your culture?
And what advice would you give to fans from Tunisia coming here for matches?

Their answers were thoughtful, honest, and a great reminder that how we show up matters more than we think.

As we get closer to welcoming the world, it’s worth remembering that what feels normal to us can feel very different to someone else. 💡

Like how people get around, and how different that experience might be for someone visiting Kansas City for the first time.

Because the experience people have here won’t just be shaped by the event… it will be shaped by us!

Thank you, Emna & Bilel! 🙌🏽

I had so much fun spending time with a group of international students from Avila University today.

What I loved most was being in a room with people who are actively navigating new environments, new ways of communicating, and new perspectives- in real time.

We talked about building confidence when communicating across cultures… and how that confidence doesn’t come from having it all figured out, it builds as you start using your voice.

And we also talked about this shift: your experience as an international student isn’t something casual… it’s big! And it's something to leverage. The ability to adapt, read different environments, and connect across differences is a real advantage.

I left feeling inspired by their openness, honesty, and willingness to engage in the conversation! Thank you to Wendy Acker & all the students who attended.

More of this, please 💛

This is the kind of nuance we don’t think about, until it starts to create friction.

Different cultures, different expectations... even in something as simple as how we open an email.

This isn't about whose way is "correct". It’s about understanding the impact we’re having.

Because what feels normal to you might feel dismissive to someone else, and that’s where trust is either built… or quietly eroded.

Big thank you & Happy Birthday shout out to my dear friend, Shamir Gokani !! 🇬🇧🥳

Grateful to have been a Gator for the day 🐊

Honored to keynote and moderate the panel at the University of Florida’s 20th Annual Academic Advisors Conference.
150+ advisors committed to leading with intention and service. That kind of energy is contagious.

The engagement.
The reflection.
The willingness to lead from within.

That’s what made the room special.

Thank you Alexis Dixon, M.L.S., G. Chip Johnson, and the entire UF team for the warm welcome and for trusting me with your milestone event.

Excited to continue partnering with institutions investing in their leaders and culture in 2026.
