What do a dollar bill, a WWII soldier, and a drink at the bar have in common?
If you said a Short Snorter, you are correct!
During WWII, servicemen collected signatures from friends and fellow soldiers on currency. Some even taped bills from different countries together, creating long chains of signatures and memories.
There was a drinking tradition, too. If someone challenged you to produce your short snorter and you couldn't, you might have to buy the next round!
We've cataloged 26 short snorters for our October Coin & Currency Auction, including fascinating examples made from international currency.
Each one is a little piece of history with a story to tell.
Have you ever seen one? Did someone in your family bring one home from military service?
