Karval Fire was paged to a grass fire started by lightening around 9:00 pm last night, with quick response was controlled before the wind came up. We would like to thank our mutual aid partners Limon Area Fire Protection District and Tri-County Fire Protection District for their assistance.

Karval Fire Protection District is very large with limited water sources, we are reaching out to anyone who may have water access when extra would be needed. **Message from Sheriff Tom Nestor, Chief Lynn Yowell, and ALL Lincoln County Fire Chiefs** With extraordinary drought and fire risks this year, illegal fireworks will be zero tolerance for us!

Multiple Fire Departments from across Lincoln County are coming together to provide a safe display at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Enjoy the professional show at sunset on Saturday night and leave the illegal fireworks alone.

Karval Fire responded to a hay bale that had been struck by lightening on Saturday. Luckily there had been some much needed moisture in the area that contained the fire to one bale. An hour earlier would have been a different situation, the strike burned all the way through the middle of the bale. Situations like this remind us of how awareness of the weather and lightening safety should be taken very seriously.
