LET’S TALK ARTILLERY FUNGUS! 🍄💥
You know those tiny little black dots ALL OVER your windows and frames?! Yep. There’s a name for those!
Meet artillery fungus. And if you have black or brown mulch in your flower beds, especially right below your windows, you’ve probably seen it!
This little fungus gets its name because it literally LAUNCHES its spores into the air, sometimes up to 20 feet! Hence the name artillery. 💥
At KTX Window Cleaning, we do our absolute best to remove every single one of those stubborn little dots. And believe it or not, sometimes our best tool is our THUMB! Yep, popping them off one by one.
Can you use a razor blade? Sometimes. But here’s where experience matters.
With today’s tempered glass, Low-E coatings, and other specialty glass, improper razor use can leave permanent scratches. That’s why we take extra precautions and never assume every window can be scraped safely.
And those beautiful French-pane windows that have been around Katy for 20 or 30 years? We can often remove the fungus, but if it’s been sitting there long enough, it may leave behind stubborn staining.
The longer it sits, the harder it can be to remove!
From Katy and Fulshear to Richmond and Cypress, we see artillery fungus ALL THE TIME.
So next time you notice those mysterious black specks on your windows, you’ll know exactly what you’re looking at!
