Big news at Common Cents! ❤️

This year has brought A LOT of growing pains. Growth is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming, and there have definitely been days when I’ve wondered how I was going to keep up with everything!

But relief is on the way… and I couldn’t be more excited to share that my sister will be joining Common Cents Bookkeeping full-time! 🎉

She’s actually been working behind the scenes with me for the past year, helping with the pieces of the business that most people never see. Now, she’s officially making the leap to join me full-time, and I couldn’t be more excited!

And to make it even more special, she’ll be starting on my birthday! 🎂❤️ I can’t think of a better birthday gift than having my sister join me in something I’ve worked so hard to build.

Having someone I trust completely by my side is such a blessing. I’m so excited for this next chapter—for the two of us, for Common Cents, and for all of our amazing clients.

What started as just me has grown into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. I’m incredibly grateful for every client who has trusted me with their business and helped Common Cents get to this point.

Big things are happening, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here! 💕💻

🏕️ CCB will be CLOSED for a little family time! ❤️

We’re closing early Tuesday, September 1st at 3:00 PM and will be out of the office through Labor Day weekend.

It’s our annual family camping trip, so I’m trading the computer for the camper, campfires, and some much-needed family time! 🏕️🔥❤️

I’ll be back in the office Tuesday, September 8th!

Your bank balance matches your books… so you’re good, right? 👀

Not necessarily.

One of the most common things I see when a new client comes to me after doing their own bookkeeping is that they’ve entered all their transactions and compared the balance in QuickBooks to the balance in the bank.

But they’ve never actually reconciled the account.

And those are two very different things.

A reconciliation compares your bookkeeping records to your actual bank or credit card statement and makes sure that every transaction is accounted for and recorded correctly.

It can catch things like:

• Duplicate transactions
• Missing transactions
• Incorrect amounts
• Transactions recorded in the wrong period
• Outstanding checks or deposits
• Bank fees or interest that were never entered
• Credit card payments that were recorded incorrectly

And here’s the important part:

Your bank balance and your QuickBooks balance can look the same and your books can STILL be wrong.

Reconciling isn’t just a bookkeeping chore. It’s one of the ways you know you can actually trust the numbers you’re looking at.

So if you’re doing your own books and you’ve been saying,
“Yep, the balance matches the bank!”

…go one step further.

Actually reconcile the account. 😉

Something BIG is happening at Common Cents Bookkeeping…

In November, Common Cents Bookkeeping will officially be SIX years old.

Six years of building, learning, growing, figuring things out, taking chances, and believing in this business even when I didn’t always know exactly where it was going.

And the truth is… I’ve been working toward this moment since the very beginning.

I’ve been quietly putting pieces into place, dreaming bigger, and building Common Cents into something much more than what I originally imagined.

I’m not quite ready to share all the details yet but I can tell you that some BIG changes are coming, and I am SO incredibly excited about what’s ahead.

This next chapter feels different. It feels like everything I’ve worked for is starting to come together.

I can’t wait to finally share what I’ve been working on behind the scenes.
