As I travel to various counties and courthouses in the course of appraisal business, I find one of the most interesting parts of the job is meeting the people in these locations. It’s funny how an office environment will take on the personality of the employees that occupy the space on a daily basis. From helpful tips for processing legal forms, to historical maps of the locations and counties, to funny yet sobering comics about daily life, there always seems to be a good variety of reading entertainment posted on the walls. In one such courthouse in Southwest Nebraska, I ran across this document specifically related to appraisal. While comical, satirical, and perhaps a bit stinging at times, it provides a glimpse into what it can mean to be charged with the task of completing an “appraisal” on a property.
