Expected to make landfall around 1 PM today.

And with that, we have the 5th named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. NHC has upgraded TD 5 to Tropical Storm . Max sustained winds are 40 mph. The primary threat is heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding along and east of I-45 throughout Tuesday.

Kemah Fire Department proudly serves the City of Clear Lake Shores, the City of Kemah, Lazy Bend Subdivisions, and the unincorporated regions of northeast Galveston County.

The system south of Louisiana has been upgraded to a 50% chance of development in the next 48hrs as it drifts WNW over the next few days. Regardless of whether it develops, this system is expected to bring an increased risk of heavy rain and flash flooding by Tuesday.

The Kemah Fire Department is on the location of a natural gas leak in Clear Lake Shores, along Blue Point Rd.
No evacuations are required, and air monitoring is ongoing until Centerpoint Energy arrives.

Traffic Notice:
TxDOT will close League City Pkwy. (SH 96) from Evergreen Memorial Pkwy. to SH 146 from 2 PM on Friday, August 14th to 7 PM on Saturday, August 15th.
Highway 146 (northbound and southbound) remains open.

Drivers should use routes via FM 270 to FM 518 or FM 646.

Weather Alert: Flood Watch Extended

The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Watch for Southeast Texas through Thursday morning, with heavy rainfall possible through the end of the week.

Please stay weather aware, monitor trusted news and weather sources, and use caution when traveling. Roadways may become hazardous quickly, especially in low-lying or flood-prone areas.

Never drive through flooded streets.

Conditions will be somewhat favorable for the development of a brief tropical depression or tropical storm Wednesday-Thursday over the NW Gulf.

Regardless of development, the primary concern remains periods of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Though heavy rainfall is possible areawide (SE Texas), the highest risk of flash flooding over the next few days will be across our southern and coastal counties.

Expect delays or consider avoiding the area if possible. The Kemah Police Department has tow trucks on the way to clear the roadway.
