The "conversational narcissism" inherent in the shift response is one of the reasons that mediators will always have plenty of work. Listening actively and with empathy does not come naturally to those of us raised in predominantly individualist cultures such as the U.S.

For anyone who is interested in challenging themselves around issues of racial equity, the ABA has launched another 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge, this time focused on the Asian American experience.

As a follow-up to the February 2021 ABA-wide 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge, the ABA D&I Advisory Council has come together to create a 21-Day Challenge focused on the AAPI community/ies for the month of May, AAPI Heritage Month.
