URGENT: New "No Tax on Tips" Rule Proposed

The Treasury Department just released proposed regulations that could affect what restaurant employees can deduct on their taxes under the new "No Tax on Tips" law.

Automatic service charges and mandatory gratuities may NOT qualify as deductible "tips" - but tips where customers can choose to modify or decline the amount DO qualify for the deduction (up to $25,000/year).

This could significantly impact what tax benefits hospitality workers receive.

Timeline: If approved, this takes effect January 1, 2026 for 2025 tax year returns. You have until October 22 to comment on these proposed rules.
