We have been getting a lot of questions about BLAK Coffee Kenosha. We understand that some incorrect facts have made it hard for people from Kenosha and surrounding areas to support us, so we wanted to do a Q&A to help everyone understand more about us.
Q: What are your hours and where are you located?
A: Our winter/spring hours are still in effect, Tuesday–Saturday 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We will open earlier and stay open later during the summer hours. Our physical location (yes, we have a storefront 😉) is 5615 7th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53140. It is on the east side of the building in Kenosha Creative Space.
Q: Do you have indoor seating? Do you have Wi-Fi?
A: Yes, we have seating for about 20 customers. As the weather improves, we will have outdoor seating so you can enjoy our fabulous drinks outside. Yes, we have Wi-Fi for our customers. While you are taking care of business or doing homework, you can also enjoy our curated music playlist.
Q: Do you have curbside pickup?
A: We currently do not offer curbside pickup, but most customers wait only 3–4 minutes for their drinks. We prioritize customer service and would love for you to place your order in person and enjoy a quick but great conversation with our cashier/barista.
Q: Do you serve food? Pastries?
A: Yes! We have tried many options to see what our customers enjoy. As of now, we have two breakfast sandwiches (Bacon, Egg, and Cheese & Sausage, Egg, and Cheese). We would love to bring back our amazing waffles (regular, chocolate, and sweet potato) and bagels during the spring and summer months. Also, everyday we have a delicious selection of pastries from your favorite local bakery, but on Saturdays Deshaun's mother Deborah makes a wide variety of AMAZING homemade dessert. We will always post the night before what that dessert will be so be on the lookout.
Q: Will you be at the Kenosha HarborMarket?
A: We are hoping to be able to rejoin the HarborMarket this season, but we still encourage the community to come to our brick-and-mortar location on Saturdays before the HarborMarket. If we are able to join this season, our physical location will still be open while we are at the HarborMarket. We love being a part of the HarborMarket, and we will keep everyone updated about it.
Q: Do you have kid-friendly drinks? Do you have anything besides coffee?
A: Yes, we have delicious beverages for the kiddos. Starting off we have Jojo’s Coco which is Deshaun’s daughter’s hot chocolate recipe. We also have Chillers (similar to a frappe but not blended), Steamers (steamed flavored milk), and Foster's Lemonade (flavored lemonade; we have 20 different flavors). For our customers who don't like coffee, we have chai, lemonades, and Lightning Bolts (our plant-based energy drink).
Q: Do you have designated parking?
A: We try our hardest to have a couple of parking spots available in front of our shop, but we are also located in the central part of downtown Kenosha, so it is very difficult to maintain those spots. We encourage our customers to try and find a close spot and walk to the shop. Trust me, your experience at BLAK Coffee will be worth the short walk you may have to take.
We hope this quick Q&A helps generate potential customers and encourages repeat business as we overcome the dreaded slow season for small businesses. We are huge advocates for supporting local businesses, as they are what keeps our community unique. We understand that convenience (drive-thrus and location) plays a huge factor in where you choose to get your morning and afternoon coffee, but we hope to change that with this post.
