Had a great time at the Wisconsin taxidermy show a couple weeks ago. My baby scaley sided merganser, yellow breasted fruit dove, great blue turaco and recreation bald eagle did very well. Those pieces won the Matuska competitors award which is given to the group of 4 mounts with the highest scores combined in the masters division.
My recreation eagle won Public Viewing Choice award (public’s voted best of show) and the Artisan award (competitors voted best of show)
My great blue turaco won the state title for single bird non-waterfowl
My baby scaley sided merganser won
G2 Taxidermys choice award, Van D***s award, (most original and creative presentation) Taxidermists choice award, (competitors voted best bird) and Champions Choice award
(most stunning composition or visual impact in the showroom)
I also entered a combined piece with my friend Tara Radovan. She mounted the muskrat and I did the baby coot. We won the Mounted in Alaska award (piece that “tells the best story”) and Walnut Creek’s Choice award
