Thursday 9/12/24 we will be doing a scrap run from Kewaunee to Sturgeonbay this will also include algoma, forestville, and Maplewood. Please see our acceptable items list. If there's something not on the list just ask. Remember if you put items out to please PM address for pick up.

We have found someone to remove Freon properly. We are accepting Refrigerators and freezers again . There is a $30 fee per unit. Still on the hunt to find someone to remove mercury tubes for old TV's . Thank you for everyone's patients

There are pros and cons to metal recycling

Recycling scrap metal allows us to use less energy, which also means less greenhouse gas emissions

Refrigerators have Freon in them when released into the air it effects our ozone layer and greenhouse gas emissions.

Refrigerants can impact human health, increasing the risk of cataracts, skin cancer, and weakened immune systems.

That's why it is important that you do not just cut the Freon lines and release it into the air Did you know that if the DNR finds where a person cut the Freon lines that the fines start out at $500 per unit and goes up from there. If the EPA gets involved the fines can go up to $37,500.

Those old box TVs have tubes in them. Those tubes have mercury in them . If released into the air it creates toxins. If you break them on the ground it effects anything that you try to grow and can get into the water system.

By properly recycling metals it reduces the amount of waste in our landfill. Also reduces the amount of having to process raw materials....
