Michael Movie Review (2026)

The Michael movie starring Colman Domingo, Jaafar Jackson, and Juliano Valdi was amazing from start to finish. The cinematography was outstanding throughout, helping to bring an unforgettable storyline to life that fans everywhere will recognize and appreciate.

For those, like myself, who were not around during the Motown 25 or Thriller era, this film provides an incredible opportunity to experience many of those iconic historical moments on the big screen.

While the entire cast delivered phenomenal performances, Jaafar Jackson truly embodied Michael Jackson. Honestly, if you did not know it was an actor portraying him, you would think you were watching MJ himself. His performance was absolutely incredible.

Overall, Michael is a powerful, entertaining, and nostalgic film that is truly a must-see for everyone.

Technology in the Modern World

May 19, 2026
By Katie Wheeler

When I think about the word “technology,” I think about the world of opportunities available to me as a young professional with a disability. While it is still early in my career as an accessibility analyst, the opportunities that have come about as a result of being in this field have been astounding.

The topics I have been able to explore, the people I have met, and the experiences I have gained barely scratch the surface of what I know I am capable of accomplishing.

If I am honest, I love being in a field that is predominantly remote. Yes, some travel may be required to attend conferences and other in-person events, but for the most part, my commute is short. From my bed to my desk is all it takes. I love having the freedom and ability to make an impact on people within the disability community all over the world simply by clicking the “Join Meeting” button within the Google Meet ecosystem.

I also love having technology at my fingertips. Controlling the world by voice is my preferred method of communication and interaction. While I do have full use of my hands, having the ability to complete tasks hands-free opens a world of opportunity. It saves time and energy, but more importantly, it helps me feel “normal.”

Social media has also provided incredible opportunities for me to share my story and connect with others around the world within the disability community who share experiences similar to my own. These platforms have also allowed me to form meaningful relationships with people who make a conscious effort to know me for who I am on the inside rather than focusing on outward appearances.

To them, I am not just “the girl with the dog.” I am a woman with incredible abilities and untapped potential. I am someone the world is only beginning to know. I am also someone with the passion and determination to make a tremendous impact in the field of accessibility.

To quote one of my colleagues, “If you’re curious about whether or not something is accessible… just ask someone with a disability.”

Hotel Review
Hyatt Regency

Location: Lexington, Kentucky

The Hyatt Regency located in beautiful downtown Lexington, Kentucky is reasonably accessible to those traveling with disabilities. The elevator was a bit of a challenge, given the security measures now in place to protect guests, but I did reasonably well when navigating down to the lobby to meet up with family.

I also found the door to our room very easy for me to unlock and open from my power wheelchair. This was a huge relief for me as it gave more independence and freedom to explore the hotel as a capable adult.

The restroom was also reasonably accessible and easy for me to navigate around. The only slight adjustment that I would make in the restroom would be to move the sink down a bit to better accommodate for those in power wheelchairs to access the shower.
The shower bench was also easy for me to transfer onto and due to the proper placement of the grab bars, I felt safe and secure while showering. Which doesn’t happen very often in many hotel chains across the continental US.

We need to discuss the bed height. The bed height is ridiculous. For comparison I am approximately 5 foot tall. The bed was a bit taller than that which made it impossible for me to transfer into or out of without assistance from others. While the bed was comfortable. This is not safe for anyone with disabilities due to the “unique” challenges that we face regularly.
I understand that the Americans with Disabilities Act does not provide a specified bed height for hotel beds. However, a good alternative would be to provide couches with hideaway beds included to provide alternative sleeping arrangements for those like me who find transferring into many hotel beds to be difficult and dangerous.

On Friday, May 1, 2026, a friend and I had the pleasure of dining at Salvatori's Italian Restaurant. Going in, I expected something comparable to Fazoli's—simple, quick, and familiar. What we experienced, however, far exceeded those expectations.

From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the professionalism and genuine hospitality of the staff. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, setting the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional dining experience.

The food itself was nothing short of impressive. While the restaurant may not explicitly market itself as fully authentic Italian cuisine, the flavors tell a different story. Each bite feels thoughtfully prepared, rich, and satisfying—almost as if you’ve been transported straight to Italy. The depth of flavor is remarkable, and the portions are generous.

Even more impressive is the value. For under $20 USD, guests can enjoy a full meal including a main course, salad, bread, and a beverage—a rarity in today’s economy.

Equally important, and deeply appreciated, was the restaurant’s commitment to accessibility. The staff made a clear and intentional effort to ensure that all guests felt welcome and accommodated. At one point, the manager said, “We have to make it accessible for you.” That statement stood out.

He’s right—they do have to. But the reality is, not every establishment follows through in the way they did. Not everyone goes above and beyond to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for people with disabilities.

Salvatori’s did.

And for that, along with the incredible food and outstanding service, we will absolutely be back.
