This one means a little more.

Currituck enters the Byrd Bowl riding a 9-YEAR WINNING STREAK over Camden — but the Bruins are coming across the county line looking to change the story.

Camden is coming off a gritty 14-12 win over First Flight, powered by a rushing attack that piled up 209 yards. Senior Jaylen Mitchell has been the engine in the backfield, while Danny Defilippo has been making his presence felt on both sides of the football.

On the other side, Currituck comes in 1-1 after a 27-7 win over Deep Creek. Junior Kayden Smith has emerged as a major piece of the Knights’ ground game, while QB Shane Raferty and sophomore playmaker Jaxon Owens give Currituck weapons through the air.

The Marlin Bowl is back, and First Flight and Manteo are ready to meet again in the biggest rivalry on the Outer Banks.

For the players, this is one they circle on the calendar. For the schools, it’s about pride. And for the community, it’s one of those nights where everyone shows up, fills the stands and gets behind the athletes representing their school.

Bring the whole family. Snap a picture with Manny, enjoy activities for the kids, and make a night of it while we come together to support our athletes.
