🚨 LENDING NEWS ALERT: LightStream has stopped accepting new personal loan applications.
On October 16, Truist agreed to sell the LightStream platform and its approximately $7.7 billion portfolio of unsecured personal loans to investment firm Carlyle, as part of a shift away from non-core businesses. The deal is expected to close in Q4 2026. Existing LightStream customers are unaffected.
Let that sink in: one of the biggest names in unsecured personal lending, the lender known for up to $100,000 loans, just exited the market for new borrowers.
What’s the takeaway? Lender access can change. Funding options open and close. If your whole strategy is "apply wherever they'll take me," you're building on borrowed ground.
This is exactly why we teach the skill, not just the application: a strong, clean credit profile, a real understanding of how funding works, and a strategy that doesn't depend on any single lender staying open.
This is educational information, not a promise of approval, funding, or any specific amount. No lender can be guaranteed.
Comment Mentor and let’s change that.
