This week, we’re featuring Indian Yellow—a rich, golden yellow with a warm orange undertone. Watch as we explore its range through gradients of tints and shades.

💡 Pro Tip:

For Violet Shadows on Mackenzie Stock Drive, artist Allison Quiller started with a dark violet acrylic underpainting to unify the composition and establish its atmospheric mood.

From there, she developed the lighter values with a limited palette of Richeson Casein, building luminous greens and cool violet shadows throughout the landscape. The red wildflowers intentionally break from the surrounding color harmony, creating a small but striking moment of contrast.

A limited palette doesn’t have to limit the final result, it can bring the entire painting together.
