Fatal Structure Fire on Lurton Avenue in Kinder

At approximately 7:42 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, Allen Parish Fire Protection District #4 was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 1505 Lurton Avenue in Kinder.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel encountered an active structure fire. Multiple agencies responded to assist with fire suppression, emergency operations, scene security, communications, and medical response.

Tragically, one adult female passed away as a result of the fire. Out of respect for the victim and her family, no additional information regarding her identity is being released by our department at this time.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal has taken over the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. Any additional information regarding the investigation will be released by the appropriate investigating agency.

Allen Parish Fire Protection District #4 would like to sincerely thank all of the agencies and personnel who responded and assisted during this incident, including Allen Parish Fire Protection District #2, Allen Parish Fire Protection District #5, Coushatta Fire Department, Jeff Davis Parish Fire District #5, Kinder Police Department, Allen Parish 911, and Allen Parish Ambulance Service.

We are extremely grateful for the professionalism, cooperation, and teamwork demonstrated by everyone involved during this difficult incident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

From grabbing our gear and loading up to respond to the call, to working on being better firefighters; so we can help our community and surrounding communities when y’all need us the most. Training not only makes us better individually but also brings us together as a team. Working together makes us efficient and gets us to you faster and safer. Everyone at Fire District 4 works hard and has a heart to serve.

If you have a heart to serve others and want to know how you can help your community, the fire department is a good place to start. Yes we work hard but we also have fun. We are always looking for volunteers. From the small things, cleaning the bays and washing trucks, to the big things, responding to fires and crashes. We train every Thursday and we welcome you to come and see what you can do to help your community.
