I disappeared for a bit on here so I wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Lindsay, I am a ProDoula Certified Labor Doula working in PA and NJ. I have been interested and passionate about pregnancy, labor, birth, and motherhood in general for a long time. I hope to empower birthing people and support them and their families so they have the birth they want. However, sometimes that's not possible but I will always stand by your side, help inform and support the decisions that you make.

I think this is something that's really difficult for people to grasp especially in the midst of labor. Doctors seem like they own the space but know that YOU are just as part of the conversation of how your labor and birth goes. To open the conversation, ASK QUESTIONS. This is so important. It sounds trivial but asking questions opens the conversation and allows the doctor to know that you want to be informed and you want to make decisions. Doulas can help guide you to ask the right questions and make space to make decisions that are right for you.

Cesarean mamas are the strongest people I know. Whether you chose to get a C-section or you were told that was what needed to happen for a multitude of reasons, C-section mamas undergo major surgery to then face healing while dealing with the (insane, emotional, hormonal) postpartum stage of pregnancy, learn this new little human and how to take care of them to then be faced with criticism and negativity of the way they birthed their baby. To top it off if the mama has negative feelings towards their birth, get told "at least their baby is safe". Of course that's what we want but sometimes when our expectations aren't meant we experience birth trauma. Your feelings are valid ❤️ I see you and hear you ❤️ you are so strong. Share if you are proud of a c-section mom

During Black Maternal Health Week we just want to let Mama's of all color, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds know we are here to support you.
Did you know pregnant people of color are 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy related complications than white women?
It's the gross truth of our world but having a doula to help you speak up and feel comfortable to use your voice and make space when needed will help fight this battle. We love you, we hear you, and we support you ❤️
