A Response to the Townline Association Announcement

Let’s be clear about what happened.

The Townline Rail Terminal wasn’t dropped because of a legal victory or community consensus.
It was paused because I chose to pause it.
Not out of defeat—but because I refused to carry the future of Long Island’s waste crisis on my back alone while others stood on the sidelines.

Yes, I’ve proposed infrastructure before.
Yes, I’ve adapted when the community pushed back.
That’s not a pattern of retreat—that’s what real leadership looks like: listening, adjusting, and moving toward viable, long-term solutions.

What’s deeply disappointing is the continued effort to frame this pause as a permanent win—while ignoring the mounting environmental, logistical, and financial pressures that will fall directly on this community if we don’t act soon.

To the thousands of residents being told this is “over”—it’s not.
The Brookhaven landfill is still closing.
The waste still needs to move.
And without rail, you will get more trucks, more emissions, more damage, and higher taxes.

Townline can raise funds for a “war chest” if they want.
But what we really need is a truth chest—so people understand what’s coming, what’s real, and what’s at stake.

Because the next time someone offers you a pat on the back for stopping progress,
ask them: What’s the plan now?

I’m still here when the town is ready to build forward—together.
