60 Minutes covered it. We live it every day. 🐴

CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl reported on how horses can sense and feel human emotions — and how that makes them uniquely powerful partners in healing for people with disabilities, veterans with PTSD, and beyond.

At Unbridled Counseling, equine-assisted therapy is woven into the core of how we work. Horses don’t let you perform okayness. They meet you where you actually are — and that’s where real change begins.

If you’re curious about what equine therapy could look like for you or someone you love, we’d love to connect.

Horses can form powerful bonds with people owing to their ability to sense and feel human emotions. Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship, in Bedford Corners, N.Y., has programs that help people with disabilities, veterans with PTSD, and the incarcerated through interactions with their horses. Meet our anxiety volleyball. 🏐

Each panel has a coping skill or reflective question — squeeze your muscles and then relax, “who is someone in your life you can count on?” — so instead of sitting across from a therapist talking about hard things, you’re tossing a ball, moving your body, and landing on a skill or talking point that meets you right where you are.

This is what therapy looks like at Unbridled. We don’t believe one size fits all — especially with kids. When we meet a young person where their interests are, the walls come down faster, the conversations go deeper, and the skills actually stick.

Movement, creativity, and genuine connection. That’s our approach.

If you have a kid who doesn’t exactly love the idea of “going to therapy,” we get it. We’d love to show them what it can actually look like.

If you’re noticing stress show up in your body, the next step isn’t to push through it, it’s to respond differently. The goal isn’t to eliminate stress completely. The best thing is to give your nervous system moments to reset.

Research shows that small, consistent practices can help bring your body back to baseline.

A few ways to start:
• slow your breathing (try a new meditation or box breathing)
• spend time in nature
• move your body gently (walk, stretch, yoga)
• increase social connection with grounding people
• reduce input (phone, noise, constant stimulation)

If you need help implementing these tools in your life, the Unbridled team can offer nervous system and stress support.

A little glimpse into our spring intensive 🌿

Our spring intensive was filled with space to slow down, connect, and reset through art, time outside, and work alongside the horses.

We’re always reminded how impactful it can be to step out of the usual pace and into something more intentional.

If you’ve been curious, our next equine therapy intensive is planned for June 20. More to come soon 🤍

Supporting your child doesn’t mean ignoring yourself.

Parenting a child with unique needs can be deeply meaningful, but also overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting at times.

You’re navigating more than most people see: advocating, supporting, adapting, often without much space for your own experience.

That kind of ongoing stress lives in the body. And you deserve support, too. At Unbridled, we offer a grounded, supportive space for parents to slow down, process, and feel supported.

Fresh air, open space, and the quiet presence of nature are some of the most healing things for the body and mind. Time outside can help regulate the nervous system, slow things down, and create space to breathe again.

On this Earth Day, we’re reminded of the connection between our environment and our well-being. And how powerful it can be to step outside of the noise and into something more grounding.

Stress often shows up in ways you don’t immediately recognize. When your nervous system stays activated for too long, it can impact multiple systems at once.

When you slow down and explore what your body is telling you, you might notice:
• muscle tension (especially jaw, neck, shoulders)
• trouble falling or staying asleep
• digestive changes (bloating, discomfort, irregularity)
• feeling tired but wired
• headaches or increased fatigue
• irritability or difficulty concentrating

These aren’t random, they’re common physiological responses to ongoing stress. Your body is adapting to what it perceives as demand and it's telling you not to ignore these signals.

When these symptoms start to show up, it’s your body asking for a different pace and more support.

Not all therapy looks like sitting in an office talking about your feelings.

Sometimes it looks like being outside. Moving your body. Having a real conversation without pressure or formality.

At Unbridled, therapy can be different: working alongside horses, walking the property, or simply having space to think more clearly.

For a lot of men, stress doesn’t come out in obvious ways. It shows up as pressure, constant responsibility, or feeling like you always have to stay “on.”

If therapy has never felt like your thing, this might be different. If you or a man in your life could use some support, book a 15 min consult at the link in bio.

Therapy isn’t just talking, it can be learning real-life tools.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based approach designed to help you navigate intense emotions, stress, and relationships in a more grounded way. It can help you slow things down, respond instead of react, and feel more in control of your internal experience.

Our team is currently expanding our work in DBT, integrating these tools into a grounded, relational approach to support lasting change. We excited to bring these skills to the practice. Book a consult at the link in our bio if you are interested in learning more.
