JW Hicks is currently seeking a Mechanical Systems Technician in our KNOX, IN location, who will be responsible for the production of mechanical systems through the inspection, assembly, and verification of the required components. The mechanical systems include fabrications, machined parts, castings, hydraulics components, and standard hardware. This role also includes the production of spare parts and OEM recertification’s for the originally supplied systems.
Mechanical Systems Technician Job Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to produce mechanical systems.
Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials, move work in progress, and ship finished products.
Prepare and assemble materials needed to build various mechanical systems with manufactured/purchased sub components.
Operate cutting tools and grinders to prepare components.
Manufacture spare parts to support customer installed OEM equipment.
Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using precision measuring tools.
Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
Use precision measuring tools to inspect machined parts
Test products or subassemblies for functionality or quality.
Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products.
Assist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Mechanical Systems Technician Minimum Requirements:
Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to all assemble details
Understanding of proper use of hand and power tools
Ability to use precision measuring equipment
Experience with machining operations and fabrication
High school diploma or equivalent GED
Experience with quality control
Ability to use sound technical concepts for problem solving
Familiarity with OSHA industrial standards
Mechanical Systems Technician Preferred Requirements:
Familiarity with crane and forklift operations
Familiarity with rigging and use of lifting devices
Machine shop experience beneficial
Experience in an ISO certified environment
CPR and First Aid training
Basic computer literacy
