State 4-H Horse Show Overnight Stalling & Check-In Reminders

As we get closer to the 2026 Tennessee 4-H Horse Championships (June 23-27), please review the overnight stalling and check-in procedures to help ensure a smooth arrival for exhibitors, families, and horses.

📋Veterinary Check-In Hours:
🕖 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central Time
📅 June 23-27

All horses must complete the veterinary check-in process before moving into assigned competition stalls. The veterinary tent will review Coggins paperwork and assess the overall health and condition of arriving animals.

Important Overnight Stalling Information:
• Assigned competition barn stalls will not be available until veterinary check-in has been completed.
• If an emergency requires arrival outside of check-in hours, limited overnight stalls in Barn 22 will be available.
• After-hours arrivals must still have Coggins paperwork reviewed and animals cleared by veterinary staff before moving into competition barns.
• The overnight emergency barn is reserved for genuine extenuating circumstances — please make every effort to arrive during the scheduled check-in window.

These procedures are in place to protect the health and safety of all horses and participants while ensuring the best possible experience at the State 4-H Horse Show.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the show!

Equine Welfare Expectations at the 2026 Tennessee 4-H Horse Championships

As we prepare to welcome exhibitors to the 2026 Tennessee 4-H Horse Championships (June 22–27), we want to remind all 4-H members, families, volunteers, and agents that animal welfare is our top priority.

The Tennessee 4-H Horse Program is committed to promoting responsible equine care and quality husbandry. All horses, ponies, miniature horses, and other equids must meet the minimum welfare requirements outlined in the 2026 Tennessee 4-H Horse Championships Handbook to be eligible to compete. This includes meeting the required Body Condition Score (BCS) of 4 or greater based on the Henneke Body Condition Scoring System.
Important reminders:

• Participation at a regional show does not automatically guarantee eligibility for the State 4-H Horse Show.
• All animals will be evaluated upon arrival at the State Show.
• Horses that do not meet welfare standards will not be permitted to show.
• Meeting the minimum BCS requirement alone does not guarantee eligibility — overall health and welfare will be considered.

If you have questions about your horse’s condition before arriving, please reach out early to your County Extension Agent or the Tennessee 4-H Horse Program team. We want to work with you to ensure every exhibitor and every animal has the best experience possible.

Check out our Extension Publication on BCS and Welfare below!
