A note to my friends, photography page fans & clients:
If you have noticed that Brooks Photographic Art and myself, Jessica Brooks, has been “m.i.a” this past fall and winter it’s because I had to take some time off from my photography and life in general – I have been dealing with a horribly painful facial nerve disease called Trigeminal Neuralgia and I decided to undergo brain surgery this winter to try and relieve the pain. The surgery I had was called Microvascular Decompression and was done this past November. Although it wasn’t a 100% success, it was extremely successful in taking away the majority of the pain and luckily with no side effects. It took me 8 years to decide to finally have the surgery because the surgery itself would be so painful and the risks involved with the surgery were so great, such as facial paralysis, hearing or eyesight loss & the possibility of stroke or even death. I can’t say if I would go through it again, as the aftermath of the surgery was definitely the hardest and most painful time in my life – but I am glad, now that I am recovered, that I did go through with it. I have been able to come off of all the zombie-like medication I had to take for the Trigeminal Neuralgia and I now feel like a new person! It has been a tough and long recovery, and I still have more to go, but I am so thankful that I made it through – and especially for the friends and family and my husband who were so supportive throughout my recovery. I would not have made it without them for sure.
So now that I am doing much better and ready to get back into real life again, I have decided to make some changes with how I am going to run my photography business from here on. I have decided to make it a partnership with my father, Johnny Brooks, who is also a very skilled & knowledgeable photographer. This year Brooks Photographic Art will slowly be transformed into Jess & John Photography. To celebrate our new business and to celebrate my recovery time, we will be coming back onto the photography scene this weekend with my first job back after surgery at the Wild Wing Café this Saturday to photograph the Fairview Union’s CD Release Party! To help them celebrate and to help kick off Jess & John Photography – we will be giving away some awesome prizes! Two one-hour portrait sessions, a $150 value each, and for the grand prize – a free wedding photography certificate! This is for up to 6 hours and has a value of $1500.00! You don’t have to be present during the announcement of winners to actually win, but you do have to show up to the party and fill out a sign up sheet to win. The portrait sessions will be transferable – you can give those away as gifts, but the wedding certificate will not be transferable. If you have any questions about Fairview Union’s CD Release Party, check out their page – and be sure to “LIKE” them as well!
