President Donald Trump has nominated four individuals to the Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors 🚨

The nominees include:
✔︎ Lee Beaman
✔︎ Mitch Graves
✔︎ Jeff Hagood
✔︎ Randall Jones

The nominations come after the dismissal of three board members, which left TVA without a quorum. The board currently has three members and requires five to take actions beyond ongoing operations.

Senators Blackburn and Hagerty called for the new nominees’ quick confirmation in the Senate. Trump’s picks would not be seated until the U.S. Senate confirms them.

Google takes a bet on fusion power! ⚡️

Member Google has struck a deal to purchase 200 megawatts of fusion power from Commonwealth Fusion Systems. This marks a major step in advanced energy as AI drives up data center demand.

“Fusion holds huge potential as an energy source of the future: it’s clean, abundant and inherently safe, and it can be built just about anywhere,” said Michael Terrell, Google’s head of advanced energy.

This follows Google's previous agreement with member Kairos Power to build a fleet of small modular nuclear reactors to power its data centers. The reactors, which rely on nuclear fission, are scheduled for completion between 2030 and 2035 and will produce 500 megawatts of power.

As demand for carbon-free energy accelerates, members like Google and Kairos Power are leading the way in developing solutions to meet growing power needs while reducing emissions.

TAEBC’s Elena Hale and Spark Innovation Center's Lilly Tench were honored to represent the State of Tennessee at the National Coalition of Clean Energy Incubators’ (NCCEI) 2025 Advanced Energy Innovation Advocacy Week in DC. Together they advocated for continued federal support to accelerate energy tech commercialization and boost U.S. energy dominance.
