RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform and pass annual canine certifications and required testing
Participate in training to search vehicles, buildings, cargo, commercial vehicles and identify explosive threats
Perform Handler duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog
The handler will be responsible for maintaining the teams training records and daily activity logs
The handler will be responsible for the health and wellbeing of the assigned canine
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
U.S. Citizen with Two years experience in detection dog handling. (explosive detection dog in an operational environment is preferred)
Active DOE "Q" Clearance Preferred
Must be able to pass canine testing and certifications for the program. The candidate must maintain the certification requirements
Must be able to pass an in-depth security background check and possess a top-level security clearance
Effective oral and written communication skills within all levels of the organization
Must have adequate transportation to transport assigned Canine and Crate to and from work location
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
Problem-solving skills
Ability to interact well with the public
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
Ability to understand and successfully handle the various operational issue
Must be able to pass a drug test
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 90 lbs. Requires standing and working for long periods of time in all weather conditions. Requires intermittent sitting, walking, climbing, squatting, stretching, bending, and kneeling.
