Mold Doctors USA recently began working at a medical facility where an extensive mold investigation had already been performed.

The report was over 100 pages long and included multiple rooms throughout the facility.

But when we began our own investigation, we found something extremely concerning:

👉 Entire walls containing visible growth consistent with Stachybotrys were not identified in the report. (We did have a hygienist come out to do wall cavity samples and confirm the toxic mold).

How can that happen?

Because air sampling tells you what is in the air at the moment the sample is collected. It does NOT necessarily tell you everything that is hidden inside walls, behind materials, underneath flooring, in cavities, or in areas where mold may not be actively releasing spores into the air.

And this is exactly why, at Mold Doctors USA, we don’t believe in taking a couple of air samples and calling it a complete mold investigation!

Most people search for mold removal. What they actually need is mold remediation. And the difference between those two things is the difference between the mold coming back in two weeks or being gone for good. 🔬

If your house has a musty smell that comes and goes, or one room that always smells different than the rest, that is not just an old house thing. That is mold. 👃

Musty odors are caused by microbial volatile organic compounds, which are the gases mold produces as it grows. If you can smell it, there is an active colony somewhere in your home producing those compounds right now.

The most common places we find the source: crawlspaces, behind bathroom walls, inside HVAC ductwork, behind kitchen cabinets on exterior walls, and in attics with poor ventilation. Places you would never think to look. 😶
