Margins are getting squeezed.
Costs are up.
Revenue growth is slowing.

Strip away the noise, and there are only four levers inside a P&L:
Raise prices
Increase profitable volume
Reduce direct costs
Reduce overhead

Today, let’s focus on overhead.
Insurance is one of the few major expenses where the process directly impacts price.

When renewal hits, and that number increases,
the natural reaction is simple:
Renew with the current agent.
Or go out and get quotes.

That’s a tactic. Not a strategy.

Insurance outcomes aren’t random.

They’re heavily influenced by two underused variables:
How your company is positioned and marketed to underwriters.
Whether your account is taken to the right markets with a defined strategy behind it.

Two similar companies can run comparable operations and pay very different premiums.

The difference?
How the renewal was run.
You don’t lower insurance by shopping harder.

You lower it by pairing strong operations with an agent who runs a deliberate renewal strategy.

On your last renewal, ask yourself:
Were you involved in how your company was positioned to the carriers?
Did you see all the markets that reviewed your account, or were you simply presented “the best option”?
And were you satisfied with how that process was handled?

If you haven’t seen that side of the renewal process, the real question is:
Are you confident you’re not leaving coverage or savings on the table?

If you’re open to comparing approaches, I’m always willing to have the conversation.

If you're in alarm systems, fire suppression, security, pest control, janitorial, staffing, or self-storage, you probably feel like your insurance options are limited.

Higher premiums. Coverage that doesn't quite fit. The sense that no one really gets what you do.

Here's what we do: We work with a carrier that's actively growing in these industries, and we make sure your business is positioned correctly before submission.

When what you do well is highlighted rather than buried in paperwork, underwriting sees you differently. Pricing changes.

Tired of the same approach getting the same results? Let's talk about what's available in 2026.

It’s Friday night, just after 10, and I just got a message from a client that Tank Pro Heating and Air had just left their house.

I don’t post about contractors much, but when I hear a client tell me someone was still working at their house at 9:30 on a Friday night to make sure their family had heat, that gets my attention.

Josh showed up after hours, stayed until the issue was resolved, and made sure the system was running correctly before he left. No rushing. No excuses. Just professionalism.

As an insurance agent, I see the good and the bad when it comes to contractors. It matters to me who I’m willing to refer to the families I work with, and this is exactly the kind of service that earns that trust.

If you want someone who answers the phone, shows up, and does the job right, Josh Adams and the team at Tank Pro Heating and Air are who you call.

Business owners in the Southeast: if you’re hiring someone to plow/salt this weekend, don’t rely on a COI alone. In Southern markets, it’s common to see snow/ice exclusions or limitations that don’t show up on the COI.

If you want my Snow & Ice Checklist, message me and I’ll send it over.

Heads up for businesses across the Southeast this week (snow/ice this weekend).

The storm isn't the problem. The ice after is.

Many winter claims come from what happens next: slick entrances, icy lots, rushed cleanup, and vendors doing snow/ice work who may not actually be insured for it.

Quick reminder: in Southern markets, it's common to see limitations or exclusions around snow/ice operations. That means the contractor you hire might not have coverage for this specific work.

If you're a business owner:

- Walk the property after it's cleared (don't assume it was done right)
- Document everything (photos, timestamps, what was treated and when)
- Verify vendor coverage (a COI helps, but it may not show exclusions/limitations)

We put together a simple storm checklist for clients and local businesses. Comment or send me a message and we'll get it to you.
